Autumn girlies rise up - Episode 18

Do you feel that crisp morning air? Can you smell that pumpkin spice latte brewing?

It’s fall, y’all! Today we’re celebrating all things fall and Austen is sharing what she’s most excited for this season and how she’s getting into the autumn spirit from fall decor to fashion trends and what TV we’re watching this season.

It’s stay at home fall—all about cozying up and embracing our local area.

Create & consume

What Austen is creating this week: a blog post about the best activities to do on a bachelorette weekend. Part of content strategy for new Etsy shop but also doubling down on what’s working in terms of content.

What Austen is consuming this week: football is back! I had to watch the Giants lose a game this week but I’m overall excited for this NFL season.

In this episode:

1. The fall Target trip

No fall season is complete without a Target trip. Here’s what I bought last week:

2. Setting the fall vibes

Your home is where the fall magic happens. Grab a “Stay Cozy” mug (similar here) and snuggle up in your favorite sweater. My go-to? The Stars Hollow sweater (because what says autumn more than Gilmore Girls vibes?). Creating that cozy environment is key to fully embracing the season.

3. What I’m watching: fall TV watch list

Whether it’s something new or a comforting rewatch, fall is the perfect time to get cozy with a good show:

  • New shows: The Perfect Couple, Emily in Paris Part 2, Golden Bachelorette, Love is Blind Season 7

  • Rewatches: Gilmore Girls (of course), Gossip Girl

Grab a blanket, light a fall candle, and settle in for a binge-watch session.

4. Autumn reads

This season is also made for a good book. Here’s what’s on my nightstand:

  • The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley: My book club’s pick for September! A gripping mystery that’s perfect for fall.

  • The Pumpkin Spice Café: A cute, feel-good read for the autumn lovers out there.

  • Uptime by Laura Mae Martin, Google’s productivity expert, for those looking to make the most of their time. It’s giving back to school.

5. Coffee shops

Fall is the best time to explore new coffee shops and their signature seasonal drinks.

I’ve been trying out some local spots, and the vibe is just chef’s kiss. What’s your go-to coffee order this season?

Fall Flavors: Pass or Smash?

  • Apple: Smash

  • Pumpkin: Pass (I know, controversial!)

  • Cinnamon: Smash

  • Maple: Pass

What fall flavors are you loving this year?

6. Fall fashion trends I’m loving

This fall, fashion is all about structured yet cozy looks. Here are a few trends I’m loving:

  • Blazers and tailored pieces: Think ladylike suiting but with a relaxed feel.

  • Full skirts: I’m eyeing a pleated skirt from Sezané.

  • Fringe (yarn edition): They add such a playful touch.

  • Shades of green: We’re transitioning from summer’s brat lim green to more muted forest and olive tones.

  • High-neck wraps: Perfect for layering, Who What Wear calls it the swaddle season trend.

  • Leopard print: It’s everywhere in fall collections, from Versace to Marni to McQueen.

7. Seasonal refresh: getting organized

Fall is a great time to refresh your space and get organized. Here’s how I’m doing it:

  • Donating items I no longer use.

  • Decluttering my beauty products (I like to do this bi-annually).

  • Adding new folders to my desk for a more streamlined work setup.

8. My fall bucket list

Here’s what I’m adding to my fall bucket list:

  • Hosting a Sunday football watch party.

  • Visiting The Cloisters in NYC for a cozy, cultural experience.

  • Taking a trip upstate or to New England to enjoy the foliage.

  • Attending a local event: the Hoboken Music & Arts Festival is on my radar.

  • Shooting some fall fashion content—I have fallen off the short-form content but I’m determined to find my way back.

Summary
