My favorite US cities I’ve visited so far - Episode 23

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, and over the years, I've had the chance to visit some pretty amazing cities across the U.S.

Each place has its own charm, and today, I’m sharing what brought me to each city, must-do activities, where to see the best views of the area and what drink to order while you’re visiting.

And spoiler alert—NYC isn’t on this list! That is my personal favorite city and we talk about it all the time on pod, so I wanted to spotlight some other cities today.

I vlogged many of these trips so I’ve linked any relevant videos down below!

What Austen is creating this week: new get to know me video for YouTube vlog style

What Austen is consuming this week: I am overstimulated with TV lol but aside from post-season baseball and in-season football I am watching Love is Blind season 7.

In this episode:

Here are 9 US cities that I’ve loved visiting!

Cincinnati, OH

What brought me there: A press trip turned into a fun adventure for my blog and my YouTube channel.

Must do: You have to try the iconic Camp Washington Chili and order a "three-way" (spaghetti, chili, and cheese).

Great view: Head to the top of The Phelps Building at Top of the Park for sweeping views of the city.

Best brew: Rhinegeist Brewery's Truth IPA is a must-try. Fun fact: “Rhinegeist” means "ghost of the Rhine," and Truth IPA was one of their first creations.

Las Vegas, NV

What brought me there: A press trip for Nylon!

Must do: For a real adrenaline rush, zipline over Fremont Street on the Slotzilla Zip Line.

Great view: Take a ride on the Las Vegas High Roller for some of the best views of the Strip.

Best brew: The Velveteen Rabbit offers craft cocktails with a side of quirky charm. It’s a cozy spot with luxe furniture, a backyard with a mural, and drinks by two sisters.

Chicago, IL

What brought me there: A girls' trip with my mom in 2017, and I’ve gone back to visit my friend Caitlin since!

Must do: If you're visiting during the holidays, stop by Christkindlmarket. It’s the ultimate winter wonderland.

Great view: Stroll along the Riverwalk, grab a bite at one of the waterfront restaurants, or take an architecture cruise for incredible city views.

Best brew: The Green Line Pale Ale at Goose Island's Salt Shed Pub, paired with cheese curds—trust me, it's a winning Midwestern combo.

Seattle, WA

What brought me there: A visit to see my cousin (and a trip with Andrew)!

Must do: You can't miss Pike Place Market for its lively atmosphere and amazing food.

Great view: Go to the top of the Space Needle for breathtaking panoramic views.

Best brew: Try Fremont Brewing’s Sky Kraken—my cousin even served it at her wedding!

Austin, TX

What brought me there: A girls' trip with my roommates in 2017.

Must do: Head to The White Horse for some honky-tonk dancing. We had a blast!

Great view: The iconic Austin Motel sign is a must-see and makes for a great photo op.

Best brew: Sip on a Mamosa at Banger’s in the Rainey Street Historic District—it’s the perfect spot for a laid-back afternoon.

Savannah, GA

What brought me there: A girls' trip with my friend Alexa.

Must do: Have dinner at The Olde Pink House—quintessential Southern cuisine served in a historic Savannah home. Reserve a table early, this spot tends to book up!

Great view: Take a trolley tour of Savannah to soak in the city’s charm.

Best brew: Southbound Brewing's Hop'lin IPA. Also, fun fact: Savannah is an open-container city, so you can take your drink to-go!

New Orleans, LA

What brought me there: A trip with Andrew.

Must do: Explore the French Quarter, indulge in beignets, and enjoy the nightlife on Bourbon Street.

Great view: Jackson Square Park offers an iconic view of the Saint Louis Cathedral.

Best brew: Brunch at Broussard’s with a mimosa in hand is the perfect way to start the day.

Boston, MA

What brought me there: A fun summer road trip with Andrew.

Must do: Catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park—it’s a Boston staple!

Great view: Take a guided Freedom Trail tour to soak up the city’s history and scenic spots.

Best brew: Head to the North End by the water and try Night Shift Brewery's Fluffy Hazy IPA.

San Francisco, CA

What brought me there: Andrew ran the Big Sur Marathon, and we got to explore San Francisco afterwards!

Must do: Grab a sourdough bread bowl filled with tomato soup from Boudin Bakery at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Great view: To capture the best shot of the Golden Gate Bridge, take a drive through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Best brew: Opt for a local glass of wine from nearby Napa—you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
