Eras Tour in Amsterdam recap - Episode 9

We did it. We crossed an ocean to see Taylor Swift in concert. Was the journey worth it? What did Austen think of finally seeing the Eras Tour live? And what else did they get up to in Amsterdam and Brussels? Today we’re recapping this crazy weekend trip and sharing all of the details.

Getting Tickets and Concert Logistics

Securing tickets for the Eras Tour was an adventure in itself. We ultimately purchased our tickets secondhand on StubHub, and they were delivered through Ticketmaster NL.

They weren’t cheap but they were still better seats at a better price than any of the North American shows we were considering.

As the concert date approached, we focused on the logistics like making sure we had the correct sized bags to bring into the stadium and mapping out how we would take public transit to get there.

Outfits, Friendship Bracelets, and the Concert Experience

For the concert, I went all out with an outfit inspired by the Speak Now era. It was so much fun getting into the spirit of the event and seeing how other fans dressed up as well.

Another highlight was making and trading friendship bracelets with fellow Swifties—a fun way to connect with others who share the same love for our girl Tay.

Feelings About the Setlist

I had some idea of what Taylor would perform but wanted to be surprised by the setlist. The opening with Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince was powerful and overall I totally understood the song choices. I would have loved to hear more from Speak Now, the “folkmore” era and from the debut album.

Concert Superlatives:

  • Most impressive vocals: But Daddy I Love Him & august

  • Most powerful live performances: willow, Down Bad, 22 (passing off the hat), Look What You Made Me Do (with all of the prior versions of Taylor)

  • Most cathartic bridges to scream in a stadium full of Swifties: Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me & Cruel Summer

Exploring Amsterdam and Brussels

Beyond the concert, we had the opportunity to explore both Amsterdam and Brussels.

In Amsterdam, we visited the Van Gogh Museum and the Moco Museum, indulged in delicious pizza at Mangia, and enjoyed a serene canal tour.

Brussels was equally enchanting, with its Grand Place, the stunning cathedral and Galerias, the vibrant Delirium Cafe, and enjoyed the mouthwatering mussels at Le Marmiton.

Summary

Attending Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Amsterdam was a dream come true. From the journey of securing tickets to the electrifying concert experience and exploring two beautiful cities, every moment was magical.

This trip will forever hold a special place in my heart, filled with music, adventure, and unforgettable memories.
