From interning at Marie Claire to later joining Nylon, her journey showcases the importance of internships in shaping one's career path. Despite the challenges and long hours, Austen's dedication and love for the industry propelled her forward.

Early wins

Austen's determination led her to reach out to various contacts post-grad, ultimately landing her a job at Nylon. From there, she found herself at Nylon, where she quickly rose through the ranks, taking on responsibilities and immersing herself in the vibrant world of fashion and beauty journalism.

Overcoming challenges

Despite experiencing layoffs, she embraced freelance writing, leveraging her blog and social media presence to carve out a niche for herself in the digital landscape. Austen steadily built her portfolio, gaining exposure in top publications and collaborating with renowned brands. 

Then she learned about a job opportunity at Jumprope and immersed herself in the tech startup landscape. The challenges of the pandemic prompted Austen to reassess her career path, leading her to take the leap into full-time content creation.
